2.5.4. Brake system

The brake system of considered cars is equipped by the vacuum amplifier allowing for braking with certain intensity to put to a pedal of a brake smaller effort, than it would be required without the amplifier. If the amplifier does not work (at the idle engine or for other reason), the working brake system remains serviceable, however to press on a pedal of a brake is required with considerably bigger force, and the brake way will increase.

At the idle engine by each pressing a brake pedal the additional effort of braking decreases, therefore it is not necessary to press a brake pedal at the idle vacuum amplifier without need (for example, at car deduction on the slippery road).

In default brakes during movement braking by means of the parking brake is allowed, however it is necessary to remember always that the brake way in this case will exceed much more a brake way when using working brakes.

Use of the parking brake at car movement with normal speed can cause driving loss therefore if it is necessary to use the parking brake for a stop of the moving car, act especially accurately.

It is not necessary to hold a foot on a brake pedal at car movement since it leads to heating and premature wear of brake mechanisms and increase in a brake way. At movement on a slope do not use brakes too long, instead use braking by the engine, being switched to lowering transfers. After movement during a rain, and also after overcoming of a water barrier it is necessary to dry brake mechanisms, having slightly pressed a pedal of a brake and holding it until productivity of brakes will not return on normal level.

Parking brake

Arrangement of a pedal of a drive and handle of an otpuskaniye of the parking brake. For raising of the parking brake press a pedal; for an otpuskaniye of the parking brake pull on itself the handle.

Do not use instead of the parking brake the transmission established on transfer. On a parking surely cock the parking brake and establish the AT selector lever in the situation "P".

System of anti-blocking of brakes (ABS)

The ABS system at achievement of speed of the car more than 10 km/h constantly traces speed of rotation of wheels of the car and at their blocking repeatedly modulates hydraulic pressure in brake system. Regulation of pressure is carried out separately for each forward wheel and for both back wheels. Thanks to such scheme braking of both back wheels identical and stability of the car does not worsen.

When braking in conditions which can lead to blocking of wheels, and also at system self-diagnostics, it is possible to hear clicks in brake mechanisms, or to feel pulsations of a pedal of a brake. The listed phenomena are a consequence of normal work of ABS system and mean its activity. It is not necessary to change thus effort of pressure to a brake pedal since it will prevent ABS system to work with maximum efficiency.

It is necessary to remember the following precautionary measures always:

  • Even in the presence of ABS system the car cannot be stopped instantly, – hold a safe distance;
  • Always reduce speed on turns since the ABS system cannot prevent failure emergence at high speed;
  • When braking on the rough road with ABS use the brake way can appear longer, than without ABS use;
  • Do not neglect the general safety rules of traffic.

Check To/l ABS system at engine start, – it should light up for some seconds, and then go out. If To/l does not die away, ABS means is faulty, thus the working brake system can normally function.

When falling speed of the car below 6 km/h of ABS it is disconnected.
