11.2. Replacement of brake shoes

To replace brake shoes follows in pairs, i.e. on both wheels of one axis. Replacement of brake shoes of the parking brake is described in the Section Replacement of brake shoes of the parking brake and their razzhimny mechanism.

  1. Remove wheels.

Models with floating supports (forward wheels)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove holding spring (1). At the left separate the socket of the sensor of wear of brake slips, if necessary replace the sensor.
  1. Remove plastic caps (2) and take out a brake hose from the holder. Twist the directing fingers located under caps and remove a support, having pulled it back.

At installation clear (but do not grease!) directing fingers, check a condition of a carving and if necessary replace fingers.


  1. Move the piston as it is possible further in the wheel cylinder. For this purpose it is possible to use, for example, the adaptation No. 34 1 050.

When moving the piston watch level of brake liquid and do not allow transfusion it too much the tank.

  1. Remove an external brake shoe. Thus the clamping spring holds an internal block on the piston. Mark the earned extra blocks and do not confuse them in the presence of unilateral wear. Clear brake shoes.

Do not put greasing on a back plate of a block.


  1. Check a boot (1) on absence of damages and if necessary to replace it. Clear a contact surface (2) pistons of the brake cylinder and put on it a thin layer of the paste preventing squeal of details of the brake mechanism.

Do not allow contact of paste to a boot as it can bulk up under its influence.


  1. Clear interfaced surfaces of T-shaped brake shoes and the case of a support and grease them with a thin layer of the paste preventing squeal of details of the brake mechanism.
  1. Installation is made upside-down.
  2. Upon termination of works several times squeeze out a brake pedal that brake shoes occupied the working provision of rather brake disks.
  3. At installation of new brake shoes on lobbies and back wheels finish level of brake liquid to «MAX» mark.
  4. Hold the ignition key not less than 30 with in situation "1", without starting the engine. The code of malfunction thereby is removed and repeated inclusion To/l wear of brake slips is prevented.

Models with motionless supports (forward wheels)

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Separate the socket (1) sensor of wear of brake shoes, take out directing fingers (2) and remove holding spring (3).
  1. Take brake shoes by means of a stripper No. 34 1 010. Mark the earned extra blocks and do not confuse them in the presence of unilateral wear. Clear brake shoes.

Do not allow contact of paste to a boot as it can bulk up under its influence.


  1. If blocks are jammed, beat out them by means of the special adaptation No. 34 1 000.
  1. Displace the piston as it is possible further in the wheel cylinder by means of the adaptation No. 34 1 050.

When moving the piston watch level of brake liquid and do not allow transfusion it too much the tank.

  1. Clear directing brake shoes of a support, check boots on absence of damages and, if necessary, replace boots.
  2. Installation is made upside-down.

Do not put greasing on directing brake shoes and contact surfaces of the piston of an aluminum support of Brembo firm.

  1. Execute the actions described in paragraphs with 8 on 10.

Models with floating supports (back wheels)

  1. Remove plastic caps (1). At the left separate the socket of the sensor of wear of brake slips, if necessary replace the sensor.
  1. Twist the directing fingers located under caps.

At installation clear (but do not grease!) directing fingers, check a condition of a carving and if necessary replace fingers.


  1. Remove holding spring (3) and a support, having pulled it back.
  1. Execute the actions described in paragraphs with 3 on 10.
